KUALA LUMPUR: Ranhill Utilities Bhd’s indirect unit, Ranhill Water Services Sdn Bhd (RWS), has secured a RM38.50 million project from the Public Works Department (JKR) for the upgrading of the piping system for treated water supply at the Royal Malaysian Navy Base, Lumut, Perak.
The project is on a design and build basis with the major scope of works component consisting of the replacement of existing old pipes with mild steel pipes in sizes varying from 150 mm to 500 mm in diameter with a total length of 61km, construction of a new booster pumping station, and refurbishment of existing reservoirs and ancillary equipment.
"The project is to be undertaken immediately with date of site possession being Jan 6, 2023 and to be completed by March 27, 2025,” Ranhill Utilities said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
The project is to be undertaken and completed over a 27-month period and would contribute positively to the earnings of Ranhill Utilities from the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023 (FY2023) up to FY2025.
"The award of this project, secured through competitive selective tender by JKR, is a testament to RWS’s capabilities and track records in the water industry, which strengthens Ranhill Utilities’s credential as a holistic water network management and specifically non-revenue water (NRW) reduction programme catering to both traditional NRW management activities, as well as civil works for water network,” it added.
At the close of trading today, shares of Ranhill Utilities slipped 1.10 per cent to 45 sen with 454,300 shares transacted.
